NOLF2 TelephoneBug

A Telephone Bug.

Developed by Santa at UNITY, the Telephone Bug (aka the Telephone Monitoring Device) is a gadget that was used to record and play back conversations on Telephones. It can be a useful item in gathering intelligence. As the device is disguised as a ladybug, it can be carried openly without alarming Civilians.

According to the August 7, 1965 audio diary of Melvin Blitzny, he had just received his Spy Training Kit which included a Tape Recorder, a UNITY Field Manual and a telephone monitoring device.

In order to infiltrate the headquarters of the H.A.R.M. India branch, Kamal Khubchandani provided Cate Archer with a UNITY developed Telephone Bug. Archer needed to place it on the telephone of Balaji Malpani (located at his apartment within the Hotel Happy Guest) so she can discover the password of the day.

Once inside the India Branch headquarters, Archer then placed a Telephone Bug on the telephone in the office of Anoop Banerjee. From the recording she was able to discover that Banerjee had been having trouble with the India branch of Evil Alliance.

Having finally gained access to the H.A.R.M. India Branch, Santa gave Archer the task of planting three more Telephone Bugs through out the compound. Other agents would be tasked with collecting the bugs at a later time.

When Pierre the Mime King and his Mimes invaded the UNITY Headquarters in England, Pierre bugged the telephone in the office of Dr. Schenker. From this he was able to discover that Archer was planning to rescue Magnus Armstrong from the H.A.R.M. Underwater Base located in the Aegean Sea.

It is not known how Pierre got a hold of a UNITY Telephone Bug.

Trivia[]
