Intel

Intelligence items are various kinds of objects containing information which could be useful. However, when actually reading the contents of such an item, it frequently appears to be a simple joke. Examples of intelligence items are:

  • Note
  • Letters
  • Loose files
  • Envelope
  • Dossier

  • Blueprint
  • Film
  • Tape

In both games the amount of intelligence items will determine your "rank". In The Operative: No One Lives Forever the amount of intelligence items collected per mission will determine your overall rank for this mission. In No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way collecting intelligence items will yield Experience Points (XP) and your rank is determined by the amount of XP collected.

There is only one intelligence item in Contract J.A.C.K. A note left from Dmitrij Volkov on the windshield of John Jack's car.

The Operative: No One Lives Forever[]

Some intelligence items in NOLF1 have more than one possible place to be found at. Also in some missions the items itself may vary (there are more items than what you can find in one playthrough, for example in 2nd mission scene 4, there are 13 items however in one playthrough you can only find 9 of them).

The place and type of items are determinate when the scene starts, it is possible to reset it by starting the mission again (not from the autosave, need to make save at the end of previous scene and finish it again to make a “fresh” start of the next scene). There is one instance in the mission Safecracker where it is (most likely) impossible to acquire one item if it does not appear on the mentioned spot – more info how to solve it is written at the respective mission.
