A Computer Vacuum Tube is a component of a mainframe computer such as the M-9 Data Processing Unit.
When Cate Archer was infiltrating a Soviet Army outpost in Siberia, her mission was to access the M-9 Data Processing Unit. While she was in the facility, she over heard two Soviets talking about how the M-9 wasn't working due to a blown Computer Vacuum Tube. The second soldier mentioned that he saw a spare vacuum tube in a supply closet downstairs.
- The supply closet is one mission level down. If the player did not grab it on the way up, they would have to return to the basement of the main records building to retrieve it.
Once Archer replaced the tube and enter the M-9 Security Code, she was able to access the central archives.
